Pilates/yoga during pregnancy?
I am in pretty good shape. I am pretty active but I havent really done pilates or yoga because I tend to find them boring. I go on hour walks every other day and well I have a toddler at home and that is an exercise on its own. I am looking for a pilates dvd for a beginning I dont want something that will be too hard for me. I want to give pilates or yoga a try but I have been reading the amazon reviews and I just dont know what to pick. My doc gave me the ok, she said just as long as I am not laying on my back and straining myself either or will be ok. Any suggestions, in your opinion what is better during pregnancy (for a beginner) pilates or yoga, and what videos do you reccomend.
With my 1st I was lucky to have a nice tight flat belly after giving birth but god knows what luck I’ll run with this time.
Thank you
Oh yes I am 20 weeks today and I also swim for an exercise.
I have Prenatal Yoga ~ Shiva Rea and Pilates During Pregnancy, Vol. 1 ~ Niece Pecenka and I like them both. I’ve done both Yoga and Pilates prior to getting pregnant but just did at-home DVDs. It sounds like you’re somewhat of an athlete as it is so you should have no problem figuring out the moves on either of these. The Yoga poses are really easy compared to my other DVD but it’s nice to shut off and stretch. The Pilates one is a little more of a workout but I don’t think it’s strenuous at all. Both are segmented so you don’t have to do all of the sections at once.
I’ve been doing both since 5wks and I’m now 14wks.
Good luck!
